Motivational drive enables achievement of goals

A thin man wears a tank top. Only background the drawing of two muscular arms.

A pin that is worth 1 million and enables you to achieve your goals.

When motivational drive turns a dream into energy that enables you to achieve the goals you set for yourself

If you are about to read this article, you should know that you are about to find out how to make your first million. There is a way, there is a technique and there is a method.

But first of all there must be: a Dream, Will and Determination.

Happy reading.

On Wednesday afternoon I was preparing to leave to meet with Saverio Fantacuzzi, Partner at OSM Open Source Management.

More precisely, it was 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. I couldn’t wait to get in the car to leave for Varese where I had a 5:30 p.m. appointment with Saverio to continue the journey in the direction of Bologna.

And so it is that at 4 p.m. Xavier calls me to move the departure to 6:30 p.m.

6:30 p.m. I have to wait one more hour. But what do I do? As you can imagine there are really a lot of activities to be done in the Agency. Moreover, in the last period we have acquired several new Clients and many projects are in the process of starting.

But the problem was not leaving an hour later. It was the eagerness I felt to reach the goal as soon as possible.

I felt that appointment, OSM’s MBS Mind Business School Communication course, would change my life.

So how could I wait one more hour, you know?

Do you know what happened? That I saw some activities with my female colleagues and at 5:30 p.m. I got in the car. I was so loaded that, only after 20 minutes, I realized I had left my wallet in the office. Had it not been that I needed the money to pay for the hotel, I probably would never have gone back. But that’s what I rightly did, so we left at 7:15 p.m.

The trip was simply amazing. When you have the opportunity to share time with a person like Xavier, time flies, the destinations approach at an incredible speed, and everything acquires totally different colors and feelings.

Each of us has innate qualities. Xavier resurrects people from the inner point of view. He has the ability to make you see, perceive and understand a different point of view. He is a light in a dark night.

And that is how in a flash we found ourselves in Bologna. A dinner of risotto, mushrooms and truffles and then to bed.

Before going to sleep, I continued reading the book “The Stranger,” which features Sergio Marchionne. Sooner or later I will write about that as well. I knew it was number one and reading the book only confirmed it.

At 7 a.m. I was already awake and ready to face the day. Arriving at 10 a.m., that is, at the beginning of the training event seemed like an eternity.

I wanted to sit in those chairs. I wanted to hear people talking. I wanted to understand how so many people, starting from nothing, created their first million.

Well, probably, 100 of these articles would not be enough to convey the emotional charge that a course at MBS can generate.

And we’re not talking about those self-motivational courses and events, where people eventually jump on tables and are ready to sign contracts for tens of thousands of euros to take home … we don’t know what. With all due respect!

I think everyone has to go through stages. He must be willing to challenge himself, question himself. He must have the will…. to understand and improve himself.

Well, during this course I decided how to totally change my life by doing exactly what I love to do, which is my work.

But I also made a promise to myself.

Do you want to achieve goals? Make yourself a promise!

Next year I want to be the one to receive that pin. Yes, the very one they give to those who have reached their first million in profit. We are talking about cash, liquidity, not pre-tax corporate profits that then turn into much less. Money in the account. That’s right, just those.

And so it was that during these two fantastic days there were alternating sessions of work and study with speeches made by Entrepreneurs who starting from nothing created their Company, but above all turned their dream into an achieved goal.

And the keywords were basically the same. I report the main ones:

  • determination;
  • perseverance;
  • creation of shared and sharable value;
  • don’t do it for the money;
  • knowledge;
  • Stand in front of the problem;
  • Surround yourself with great people;
  • values;
  • ethics;
  • don’t complain;
  • alliances.

Well, two days flew by, transiting through my heart and mind like an elephant in a china store. Probably someone, visualizing this image, will think of a store in ruins. But no.

Do you want to achieve goals? Discover counter-intuitive thinking!

It is this counter-intuitive awareness that can make all the difference. For with every broken china, there immediately finds a place for an even more beautiful, larger and more precious one.

You have to be ready for change. Because change is constant. It’s not what you read about in school books, it’s what happens every day. And today, after the advent of the Internet and social media, change has had a momentous acceleration.

I marked so many wonderful passages. Paolo Ruggeri, founder of OSM was incredible in his speeches. An immense ability to summarize. Of getting you to grasp the key points of each factor. A devastating ability to communicate. You always hope that each of his speeches will never end.

And that’s how I realized how every day, I have to face in total serenity, every problem that will come my way.

It is enough to think that “Problems are situations that are solved when we find a solution.” So there are no big problems: unpack them into smaller problems and then divide them into even smaller problems. If you persevere, ethically and consistently, you achieve the goal.

As I said before, change is the order of the day. A beautiful phrase I’ve marked for myself is change for inspiration before you have to do it out of desperation. Wow, a lot of stuff someone would say.

Always remember that once a decision is made the universe tests our determination.

Another one that opened my mind difficult Customers make the wealth of those who serve them because there, I would add, is the opportunity to make a difference and so if you know the same things as others, you are equal to others. It is basic to have a hunger for knowledge, curiosity, a desire to learn and equally basic to stand out from the competition, to stand out, to do something that no one has done yet.

In the end all of us Entrepreneurs are children with in our heads, a Big Project.

And what about Andrea Parlangeli, a person who looks straight into your soul. Her name I think describes her essence. His phrase let go was enough for me to take flight.

I would like to write about every OSM contributor I met during these two incredible days, but they each deserve far more than two lines in this article. Perhaps the most important thing is to know that they have won a space in my little heart.

I close with two quotes transcribed from the presentation by Andrea Condello Co-Founder with Ruggeri of OSM.

“If you have lost your enthusiasm, don’t focus on what you lack, focus on who you really are and what you want to prove to yourself.”

“Nothing will be able to bring you down on your path to what you long for.”

And so it is that looking at the calendar, I am counting how many hours will have to pass before the next Mind Business School course in October. But this time I know perfectly well how to manage and make the most of, this precious time.

I close by wishing everyone to find the strength, energy and determination to decide to pursue their dream. Yes that one right there, the one you have been keeping in your drawer for so many years. The one that, from time to time, does not let you sleep at night. That very dream that so many have told you-it’s an unattainable folly.

There that dream is waiting for you.

Do you want to achieve your goals? Excellence and Ethics the two Keywords for a Successful Company!

Doing my best has always been an imperative. This is not to say that I have always achieved excellence in what I have done, on the contrary, but at least I have tried.

To have given 100 percent of one’s enthusiasm, emotional charge, creativity, ideas, commitment, to the development of a Project, personally, is to have done one’s job. Probably someone will exclaim: precisely what more do you want to do…?

Unfortunately or fortunately I come from a school of life where 100 percent equals normal. To the obvious. To what everyone does.

And unfortunately or fortunately, I don’t like to be like everybody. I love to stand out, differentiate myself, let’s say make a difference.

This article, there is certainly not dedicated to yours truly; rather, I would simply like to share some reflections with you. My life experience and especially what I am learning and understanding through a career path I am on with OSM.

Excellence and Ethics.

In 30 years in the business, I have been through it all and seen it all.

But I always gave it my all. And that has always paid off. I never saw a Client as a person to be taken advantage of. And I assure you, I would have had a thousand opportunities to do so.

You know that saying, “Wait along the shore for the corpse of your enemy, sooner or later it will pass…” That’s exactly it. I have seen that working with respect and fairness, when you are wronged, there is no need to get pissed off and go down hard. Sooner or later, if you have been fair, it all comes back to you.

A clarification: mistakes in my life I have made and continue to make many.

The Customer deserves respect, just as I demand respect from my suppliers or simply when I enter a restaurant or hotel.

I always tell my colleagues, “Remember that your salaries are not paid by the Agency, but by the Companies we work for.”

You must not flatter me, but you must love our Clients. To know, every night you leave the office, that you have given your all for them. Not for the agency.

Ethics. Ethics I believe is the most beautiful, profound and fulfilling thing there can be. Very difficult to achieve and maintain over time. The important thing is to try. I’m trying but capers it’s really a winding road, sometimes you feel like taking the shortcuts in the middle of the woods, but then you know that … it just leads to messes and, therefore, you continue on the main path, the one in the sunlight.

Do you want to achieve your goals? Apply Ethics and Excellence!

Now all these manfrattles, these pseudo-philosophical insights, how can they do to increase our Business?

Ethics and Excellence can do it and big time.

Ethics and Excellence can make all the difference in a company’s growth. They chart the way on how we should position ourselves toward the Market and Customers on the one hand, and employees and suppliers on the other.

We try to ask ourselves:

  • How long has it been since I called my Clients, simply to find out how they are doing?
  • When they asked me for a service or a product, I sold them what they needed or….
  • Have I always given my best?

Yes but Cremonesi I have to bring home the bacon every month. I have to sell. I have to invoice. I have full warehouses. I have employees to pay–do you want more excuses?

Cremonesi our turnover has already dropped by 10 percent this year, I don’t have time to waste on these things.

Good. Why has turnover dropped? Recession, no more Customers, no market, no sales. All baloney.

I assure you that the Market is there and so are the Customers. Maybe they go elsewhere?

When the slightest crisis is felt what do we do in Italy:

And maybe we claim to sell.

Do you want to achieve the goals? Invest in training

If there is no research in the Company, there is no innovation. Our products and services will be equal to or inferior to those of our Competitors.

Do you think it only applies to Businesses? No it also applies to shopkeepers and professionals. If you are equal to others you will only be measured on price. You don’t make a difference.

If you don’t do internal training, your people don’t grow, and if they don’t grow, neither does your Company or business.

If you don’t implement a structured Marketing & Communications plan, you won’t get anywhere. You can have a beautiful product and a cool service, but it will be like keeping them locked in the drawer. Cremonesi I made two posts on Facebook but no one bought!

So your Marketing, Communication and Sales strategy is based on two Facebook posts? And maybe you would also like to sell. If you can, give me a call!

In 30 years I have met dozens of Entrepreneurs who first bothered to buy the machinery, then the material. They made the products and then had no money left to do “advertising”!

Do you know how many Bars, Shops, and Restaurants close after six months because they “opened believing that Customers would come in by themselves”

So back to us.

  1. Give your Client your best, and if you don’t measure up tell him so. He will thank you. Don’t worry that when he needs one of your products he will come back because you were sincere and fair. And so he will trust you.
  2. Find the right Clientele in line with the type of Product or Service you produce. Respect it.
  3. If a Client asks you for something more than what they actually paid, if you can, if it is fair and if it is consistent give it to them.
  4. Every day ask yourself what you can do to improve your product or service.
  5. Don’t do promotions for their own sake. We have enough of Sofa Companies that discount every week as if it were the last.

If you want to be a Good Manager avoid these 4 mistakes!

I read this article posted by Vinicio Scudellaro on Facebook.

I loved it and believe it is extremely useful and effective for all Entrepreneurs, including myself.

I met Vinicio during my training at OSM’s Mind Business School.

She is a simply amazing person. Find a brief introduction to her at the end of the article.

And now Vinicio has the floor.

4 Managers’ Mistakes That Cause Companies to Fail

According to a Dale Carnegie Training study also published by Forbes Italy, the 4 biggest mistakes for which managers sink companies are :

  1. Do not show appreciation to your co-workers and people around you.
  2. Failure to acknowledge one’s mistakes.
  3. Don’t listen.
  4. Being inconsistent.

It follows that if you want to be a Good Manager who leads companies to success, expansion and prosperity you must, in my opinion, apply exactly the opposites of the above 4 points (of the study in question), namely:

1) Always and consistently appreciate your co-workers and those around you and surprise them as they do the right things, recognizing their positives and tell them!

2) Be humble, even though you are a manager you are a human being, therefore you are not perfect-everything you do is perfectible.

Those who do things inevitably make mistakes; it’s part of the game. ‘Errare humanum est’ …, error serves you to constantly improve and treasure what is wrong, but you must also be good at not ‘perseverare autem diabolicum’.

If you are humble, observant, and the first to recognize any mistakes you may have made and place your self-remediation first…dear manager you have hit the jackpot.

3) The good manager does not keep talking and self-censoring but listens, listens, listens and again listens not only with his ears but with all his senses and perceives at his best what he is being told and communicating not only in words, his staff and the people around him, but also in seemingly unexpressed ways and still, if you are paying attention it shows.

He must be a good observer and listener in order to understand understood as: to make his own, to carry in and with him.

Those who talk a lot understand nothing; those who listen a lot and understand others’ needs understand everything.

4) Consistency always pays off, it makes you not only a good manager but if aligned with one’s VALUES it also helps you become a better MAN.

Words tell who you would like to be; actions show who you really are.

To be consistent means to be free from contradiction in thoughts and actions; true to one’s ideas, beliefs, principles.

You will also be appreciated and followed by your co-workers and all the people around you.

If you apply exactly these 4 protocols of the opposites of the 4 points of the study made in the subject, you will definitely be a good Manager who leads companies and their people to success and prosperity.

Interesting this study and article that appeared in Forbes Italy because it allowed us to work out the exact opposite strategy to be GOOD MANAGERS who lead COMPANIES and PEOPLE, not to failure, but to their MAXIMUM SPLENDOR.

Do you want to achieve your goals? Discover OSM a great opportunity for all Entrepreneurs.

Blue pill or red pill. Who wants to follow the white rabbit?

It is certainly an unusual way to begin a Marketing and Communications Agency blog article.

The extremely simplified concept is a quotation from the movie The Matrix.

Wow a succession of special effects that enhance an exciting plot to say the least. Good.

And if now, fellow Entrepreneurs, I were to tell you that the blue pill (the one that makes you see the world with different eyes) really exists, what would you say?

It is yes there is. Not only that. I have tried it.

Don’t worry-we’re not talking about drugs, much less those little pills that, to men over 50 like yours truly, might represent a vigorous return to their early 30s.

All this is science perfectly dosed to a large percentage of humanity.

It is called OSM, which stands for Open Source Management.

A Company devoted to the rebirth of the Entrepreneur. First as a human being and then as a businessman.
Because it’s all there.

To return to putting ourselves in the center stage, without being led by external factors.

The formula is as simple as it is hard to apply.
If something does not work, it is our fault. It is called cause-and-effect.

If a staff member did not do what we asked him to do, it was our fault. We did not check whether he understood.

If the email did not go out in time, it is because of us.

Well I did not descend into a club of masochists who like to flagellate themselves, but rather into a clean and fair reality where one of the basic rules is: what can I do to change this?

What can I do to get my company off to a great start?

OSM has no magic formulas but a methodical approach that helps us Entrepreneurs become leaders again.

It allows us to best steer the ship by standing directly at the helm, setting the right example for our people.

Sacrifice, dedication, consistency, loyalty and ethics.

These are just a few ingredients that make a human being a successful leader.

And so it was that during the first courses I implemented with OSM, I found myself rubbing elbows with Entrepreneurs of all types, ages and businesses.

Motivated, all of them, by the same desire: what can I do to improve myself and ensure a successful future for my Company?

All this would not have happened if Mauro dall’Osto CEO & Founder of VENTUNOCENTO had not told me about the white rabbit and the blue pill.
All this would not have happened if Saverio Fantacuzzi of Dolphin, OSM’s Partner had not agreed to meet with me and let me know that nothing afterwards would be the same.

This short article is dedicated to them, but mostly to all of us Entrepreneurs.

It is not a branding. not a sponsored article. But an opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. Rebirth, revival and thanks to cause-and-effect, managing Life, Business and Company in a totally new way.

Give it a try. To bad you can always insult me. And I will probably understand, thanks to cause and effect, that I was not able to convey the right message to you 🙂

23-10-2018 Factory Communication receives first award at OSM MBS

The intangible becoming tangible, the first recognition of the concrete value created through OSM.

An airtight title, but it could only be so.

My intention is to intrigue you and lead you to read this article. Why?

  • Because it describes a great opportunity for all Entrepreneurs. For those who are willing and determined to challenge themselves.
  • For them to understand that they have to do something. Today, not tomorrow, because tomorrow may be too late.
  • Why it is critical to make some important decisions for our Companies and our Business.
  • Because as I always say, if we don’t make decisions, the Market will make them for us and not as we would like.

If all these why have raised your curiosity, take a few more minutes and find out, together with me, what you can do for your Company.

Let’s start with the first award I received on October 23, directly from the hands of Paolo Ruggeri, during my second course at MBS, the OSM Open Source Management school.

This recognition is extremely concrete. My agency, Factory Communication, was honored, along with other Entrepreneurs, for the greatest increase in revenue over the previous month.

Wow is what I exclaimed when I was called to pick up the certificate, which I framed and hung in my office.

(Credits. Photograph by Filippo Parlangeli)

And this is the first of many awards that we will receive as an Agency, as together with my Team, my valuable colleagues, we have will and determination to give freely. We have set ourselves ambitious but concrete goals. And we know that, one by one, we will achieve them all.

The first thing I did, as I returned to my seat in the MBS room, was to take a picture and share it just with them, saying that such an achievement we all received it together, because that is the right team spirit. Without my colleagues Factory Communication, it would not exist.

You will agree with me that it is an important goal. The question now arises: Do you want to achieve it too?

Have you set ambitiously concrete goals for yourself?

If the answer is yes, I can point you in one direction.

It’s probably not super simple, because the first thing you have to do is to question everything you’ve done up to now.

But if you are still reading this article, it means you have the right emotional cara and determination to do it.

And I assure you that, thanks to OSM and all their counselors, your life will change.

On the stage during MBS, I heard so many Entrepreneurs speak who explained their recipe for bringing their Company to success.

Underlying this has always been deep values of sharing with one’s Team.

Ethics, determination and perseverance in achieving goals.

The desire to give, even before receiving.

Often times I heard some counter-intuitive statements that surprised me and, at the same time, made me realize how extremely simple everything is if there are clear, concrete and shared values at the base.

My advice: take time and contact OSM, with an open heart and mind. OSM’s Mission is to change the world, to improve it and the channel, the medium, is us Entrepreneurs.

As Paolo Ruggeri, founder of OSM, says in some of his books, we Entrepreneurs do hard work, often unrecognized. But we do it with passion. We do it to create value for ourselves, our families and all our Collaborators, Partners and Suppliers.

Often times we do this without asking for anything in return, because it is only right.

My hope?

To have been able to convey even a little excitement and curiosity to you and to be able to meet you at the next MBS, because together we can make great

things.

If you want to learn more about my thinking, I invite you to read this “Spiritual Business” page.

A hug Donato Cremonesi.
