Every morning, the same scene: you open your email, scroll through your calendar, and try to understand what requires attention first. A significant part of the day is spent this way, even before you truly begin working.
On October 21, 2026, Anthropic introduced Claude Duet, an app where Claude does this work for you: it reads, sorts, prepares responses, and asks for your approval before taking action.
For now, it is only available in the United States.
It is still worth understanding it now for two reasons: it indicates the direction in which AI assistants are moving, and much of the preparation can be done today.
What Is Claude Duet?
Claude Duet is the Anthropic app where Claude works as a proactive agent.
It connects to email, calendars, and other apps, flags what requires your attention, prepares drafts and documents, and continues to work even when you close the app.
Before sending messages, making payments, signing, or deleting, it always asks for your approval.
If you first want to clarify the general concept, we have explained how AI agents work and how they differ from a chatbot.
Who Developed It and on Which Model
Duet is developed by Anthropic, the company that created Claude, and was presented as a research preview: an initial version open to a limited group of users to gather feedback.
It runs on Claude Opus 5.5, the most advanced model in the current family, and decides for itself how much effort each task requires. During development, according to the industry press, the project was called Claude Loop.
What Changes Compared to Claude Chat
In the chat, you are the one to open the conversation and ask the question.
Duet, on the other hand, works on its own computer in the cloud, periodically checks connected apps, and reaches out when something requires your decision.
It uses the same Claude account: memory, personalized skills, and connected apps are available from the very first message. You write to it as you would to a collaborator, by voice or in writing, without the need for technical instructions.
How Claude Duet Works
The Morning Brief and Activity Tab
Every morning, Duet examines email and calendars, highlights priorities, and initiates the first steps, such as response drafts. Ongoing activities appear in a dedicated tab, which highlights those awaiting your choice.
When a task is finished, or a decision is needed, Duet writes in the main conversation. It may suggest considering an activity closed; you are the one who actually closes it.
Anyone who has worked in an organized office will recognize the model: it is the folder that the administrative staff prepared every morning, with sorted mail, the day’s appointments, and files to be signed.
The purpose remains the same—starting the day knowing exactly what to handle. What changes is that Duet also prepares responses and works across all digital channels.
For the entrepreneur, the consequence is practical: before using it, it is advisable to decide what you want to find in the folder and what can stay out.
Connectors, Cloud Browser, and Files Ready for Review
Duet works through the apps connected to the Claude account.
Anthropic cites examples including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, and Calendly; Slack works with some limitations, and Microsoft 365 is not yet available as of the date of this report.
For sites without a connector, it uses a browser in the cloud.
Larger tasks, such as a brief, a financial model, a presentation, or a dashboard, are returned as editable files for review. When it reports a data point, it indicates the email, file, or sheet it originated from.
What It Does Automatically and What It Asks First
Duet shows the actions it intends to take and awaits approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document, or deleting anything.
If you cannot respond immediately, it completes the rest of the work and asks you later.
Certain operations remain excluded even with approval: trading securities, moving money between accounts, or accessing another person’s account. Anthropic openly flags a risk: emails and web pages can contain deceptive instructions, and no defense is perfect.
Human approval for important actions stems precisely from this.
Is Claude Duet available in Italy?
As of the date of this report, October 2026, Claude Duet is available only in the United States, via a waitlist, for subscribers to Claude’s Pro and Max plans. Access is being opened in stages.
Team and Enterprise plans are expected later; Anthropic has not yet indicated a date for Italy.
Who Can Use It Today and Under What Conditions
To access it, you need a Pro or Max plan, a US Claude account, and an invitation from the waitlist.
Duet is used with an app for iOS and Android.
During the preview, it is included in the plans at no additional cost; however, it consumes the same usage quota as the chat, including the checks it performs in the background, such as the morning brief.
Intensive users will therefore reach their plan limits sooner.
How to Prepare Your Company in the Meantime
Duet inherits what is already configured in the Claude account, making preparation concrete starting now.
- The first step is to connect the apps you will actually use to Claude and verify what each one can see.
- The second is to build the skills that describe the company’s way of working: tone of responses, recurring procedures, and priority criteria.
- The third is to write the delegation plan: what the agent prepares on its own, what it proposes to you, and what remains exclusively yours.
In the FARO by Factory method, this work corresponds to the Focus phase, which precedes any tool.
For Whom It Makes Sense Today and for Whom It Is Too Early
Professionals and Small Businesses
Anthropic designed Duet for professionals and small business owners who have more things to track than they can keep in mind.
This is the profile that benefits most quickly: few people, many requests, and decisions concentrated on a single figure.
Here, an agent that sorts, remembers, and prepares gives back hours every week.
Structured Companies: Governance First, Then the Tool
For larger companies, the picture is different.
According to analysts from Forrester and GAI Insights cited by TechTarget, adoption will take months, if not years, because an agent connected to email and internal systems touches confidential data and requires clear rules on access and responsibility.
Duet fits into a rapidly growing category, alongside OpenAI’s Dots, Google’s Gemini Agent, and Meta’s Muse, the latter designed primarily for consumers.
For a structured company, the choice of tool comes after defining the rules of use.
Examples of Use in Four Sectors
Food & Beverage and Tourism & Hospitality
The owner of a small restaurant group opens the morning brief and finds reservation requests for private events already sorted, with response drafts and available dates verified on the calendar.
A boutique hotel receives quote requests for groups: Duet collects them, prepares responses using information from shared documents, and flags only those outside standard conditions to the manager.
In both cases, the guest receives a faster response, and the time saved is returned to hospitality.
Fashion & Luxury and Finance & Legal
A fashion brand can entrust Duet with checking unpaid invoices from retailers and preparing reminders, which are sent only after approval.
A professional firm can use it to prepare the weekly summary of deadlines and contracts to be sent for signature.
In this sector, maximum caution is required: before connecting any archive, professional secrecy must be evaluated, and every document with legal value remains in the hands of the professional.
